  2. Dumbest title for this video. Maybe, "Steven Pinker discusses nature vs. nurture in race differences". Steve, like every other person who studies these things, knows it is a pretty even 50/50 split. But due to epigenetics, it's very difficult to say where the divide is.

  5. Jews seem to be a genetically very diverse group with some looking like their black haired Arab ancestors while others look like blond Scandinavians or red haired Celtic people. Unless there is a clear over performance of one of these subgroups versus the others I am not sure how this fits into the Nature over Nurture argument regarding the high success rate among Jews.

  6. What exactly did he destroy here, He used a bunch of anecdotal evidence, platitudes and well poisoning… I agree with his conclusion but really was a crude way to reach such conclusion (conclusion: both of them are possible, or both have some effect).

  7. I haven't studied this topic, but I find it interesting, so I think I might start. In the meantime, here's my uninformed take on the subject. Assuming Jews, on average, have a higher IQ than other enthicities (I'm fine with that assumption, by the way), it seems to me that would generally support environmental causes more than genetic causes, unless there is some subgroup of Jews (e.g. German Jews) that is disproportionately represented. Jewish culture has retained its identity to a remarkably high degree considering the relative geographic disbursement and lack of political power over the centuries. They've been scattered and oppressed, and most other cultures that experience their level of diaspora have been absorbed into other cultures and lost their identity. There are Jews who are closer genetically to the average Russian than to their Mediterranean Jewish 'brothers'. Likewise, their brothers have more in common genetically with an average Greek than with their Northern European Jewish brothers. What they do have in common is their cultural heritage, passed down through the centuries regardless of (and often in spite of) what other ethicities have married into (or merely spawned) their genetic ancestry. So, I would argue (from my own impressions more than any hard data) that unless we argue, for example, German/Jewish is the "smartest" genetic combination, maybe it's the Jewish mother stereotype that has driven Jews to succeed more than Jewish genes.

  10. I know a factor that's 80% genetic, predicts performance across an entire spectrum of activities: Human Height. But that doesn't mean great athletes don't have low body fat , high muscle mass, specific knowledge, physically adapted to tasks, and motivated. There is no good reason why anyone would think 'intelligence' boils down to a single factor, when there are clearly so many factors that predict how humans think.

  14. Race is an ontological fallacy. Whilst you can say the X trait is concentrated in people from this or that part of the world there is no such thing as distinct "races" of human being.

  16. If we know that there are differences in humans, it helps all groups. Like take blacks in Africa. They have low IQs as a group. They have some smart people, some very, very smart people, just not enough to run an advanced society. This keeps them poor. How do we help our black brothers? Encourage them to allow immigration from smarter countries…..Orientals and Whites. This would give them smart engineers and doctors etc, to help them run their economy. Then they would be richer and have better health and better lives. Denying racial differences means allowing less able groups, to suffer. That is cruel.

  19. Although I agree with the average IQ differences between races, Jews are not a race. Judaism is a religious faith not a race. The people Steven Pinker referred to as Jews are the Ashkenazic Jews who are descended from the white Khazarian empire. The Khazars converted to Judaism circa 700 ad. The Jews of the old testament bible have more in common with the Arab population then anyone else as far as race is concerned.

Pinker is absolutely right in pointing out the matter of our emotional reaction to various findings or outcomes being something that does not matter and particularly in respect to present feelings that people may have to political issues. Facts are facts and statistics are statistics which cannot be ignored if one is interested in a realistic outcome. Pity more people do not take notice of this important point instead of letting anger and disappointment drive their actions..

  21. Black people don't deny what this man is talking about. We have people with high iqs in our communities. Why not get them together and make sure they have babies. There are black children and adults with with iqs above 100. Hell some of them even have 157 this is a God send and can save our race. Find them where ever they are and get them together. I myself have a IQ of 114 and I am going to find a black woman with the same intelligence I have and I will start an organization to find these people . I don't know how many there are, but we have to start form somewhere. Understand IQ is why the white man can treat us like sub human garbage!!!! They are scared of black intelligence

  24. The only people who think that intelligence is 50/50 are those people represented by the left side of the bell curve.

    IQ is clearly 80/20. There are for instance very high IQ Africans who arose in the harsher African environment. They are simply few and far between. They are genetic anomalies.

    Think of them as rogue waves emerging from intersections of tiny ripples in the gene pool.

    No one in Africa ever invented the wheel, or domesticated animals for farming.

    It has been conservatively estimated that the Zulu tribe was 4200 YEARS behind the Europeans in terms of technology when the two groups fought in 1879.
