With these step by step drawing and art tutorials and lessons you can make art and have fun with your children. All you got to do is concentrate a little and watch closely.

Why drawing and art is important to pre-schoolers?

Starting from toddlerhood, children choose to draw. The drawings they make give us important insights into the physical, emotional and cognitive development of the child.

At first toddlers will scribble, by doing this their control of wrist and finger movements improves. But full control will not be achieved until later. When they come to the age of 2 or 3 they start to draw shapes. Finally, when they get to the age of pre-school, they combine these shapes into real drawings. Just as babbling is a natural way to gain lingual skills, scribbling is a natural way to gain muscle control and coordination.

Promoting Drawing

– Give your children lots of non toxic drawing materials and papers
– Show your children that you like to draw and engaging art but do not tell them what to draw
– Encourage drawing and art by praising their work
– Talk about different drawing concepts like thick and thin lines
– Play some music in the background to make it even more fun
– Give them lots of freedom so they can choose themselves what they want to draw and make
